Chess Maze is operated by DotPerfect Studio (“we”, “us”, or “our”). This Privacy Policy covers both:

• chess-maze.com — this marketing and guide website. It does not show ads and is not used to serve Google ads.
• play.chess-maze.com — the playable game. It may show Google ads (including display and optional rewarded ads) where allowed and where you have consented.

1. Who we are

DotPerfect Studio provides a free browser puzzle game and this public website of guides and studio information. Accounts, gameplay, leaderboards, and in-game ads live on the game origin. This website is informational.

2. Information we collect

On chess-maze.com

This website does not require an account. We may collect technical data (browser type, device information, IP address) through our host, and, if you accept, analytics cookies to measure traffic.

On play.chess-maze.com

Depending on how you use the game, we may collect:

• Account information: username, display name, and password (hashed) if you register with a username and password.
• Google sign-in information: if you sign in with Google, we receive an account identifier and basic profile information such as name and email to create and authenticate your account.
• Gameplay data: level progress, move counts, lives, leaderboard placement, and levels you create or submit.
• Settings and preferences: leaderboard visibility, cookie choices, and ad preferences.
• Technical data: browser type, device information, IP address, and similar data collected by hosting, analytics, and (on the game only) advertising providers.

3. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

• operate this website and the game;
• create and manage game accounts;
• save progress and show display names on leaderboards;
• run community features and moderate user-created levels;
• measure traffic and improve the service;
• on play.chess-maze.com only, show advertising where enabled in your region and where you have consented;
• comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not use chess-maze.com to display ads, rewarded ads, or other advertising inventory.

Where applicable, we process personal data on the basis of: performance of a contract (providing the game and site you request), legitimate interests (security, hosting, and service improvement), and consent (analytics cookies on either origin, and advertising cookies on the game where required).

Necessary storage runs the site (security and your cookie choice). Optional analytics stay off until you allow them in Cookie settings. We do not place advertising cookies or Google ad tags to show ads here.

This domain may include a Google AdSense account verification meta tag so Google can confirm we own chess-maze.com. That tag does not display ads on this website.

play.chess-maze.com (the game)

We group technologies into the categories below. You can change optional categories any time using Cookie preferences in the game footer.

• Necessary: sign-in sessions, security, and core game storage required to play and save progress.
• Analytics (optional): anonymous usage statistics through providers such as Vercel Analytics.
• Advertising (optional): Google ad cookies and similar technologies for display ads and optional rewarded ads (for example extra lives). Ads may use Google AdSense and the H5 Games Ad Placement API.

Optional categories stay off until you consent. On the game we use Google Consent Mode so ad and analytics storage remain denied until you allow them.

Google advertising cookies (game only)

On play.chess-maze.com, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to that site or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to play.chess-maze.com and/or other sites on the Internet. Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.

6. Sharing and third parties

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with providers that help us run Chess Maze, including:

• hosting and infrastructure (such as Vercel);
• database hosting (such as Neon Postgres) for the game;
• authentication (Google, when you choose Google sign-in on the game);
• bot protection on registration (Cloudflare Turnstile);
• analytics (Google Analytics on this website if you accept; Vercel Analytics on the game if you accept);
• advertising partners, including Google, only on the game, if ads are enabled in your region and you have not opted out.

These providers process data according to their own privacy policies and our agreements with them.

7. Data retention

We retain account and gameplay data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. We may retain information longer where required by law or for security and dispute resolution. Marketing-site analytics data follows the retention settings of that provider.

8. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To make a request, contact josip@dotperfect.studio.

9. Children

Chess Maze is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us so we can delete it.

10. International transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including countries with different data protection laws. We take reasonable steps to protect information when it is transferred internationally.

11. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of Chess Maze after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.
