Is Chess Maze free?

Yes. You can play official and community levels in the browser at play.chess-maze.com without paying. Optional advertising may appear in the game depending on region and your cookie choices. This website does not show ads. There is no install fee and no account required to start.

Is this a chess game?

It uses real chess piece movement, but it is a maze puzzle, not a match. There is no opponent, no checkmate, and no chess clock. You route pieces across custom boards, collect coins, and reach a flag. Read What is Chess Maze? for the longer explanation.

Where do I play?

The game is on the play subdomain: play.chess-maze.com. This website (chess-maze.com) is the public home page and guide hub. Bookmarks should point at the play URL if you want to jump straight into a level.

Do I need an account?

No. Guests can play immediately with three lives. An account (username or Google sign-in) saves progress, raises the life cap, and puts a display name on verified leaderboard runs.

Why did I lose a life?

Failing a level costs a life. That includes finishing before coins or letters are done, spelling a word in the wrong order, passing a move limit, or ending with no legal moves. See How to Play for the full fail list.

How do keys and pressure plates differ?

A key opens its color for the rest of the attempt. A pressure plate opens that color only while a piece stands on a matching plate. A level uses one method per color, not both. The mechanics page covers stuck-on-lock cases.

Can I build my own levels?

Yes. The in-game editor lets you paint boards, place pieces and gadgets, and share a link. You can also submit to the community pool for review. Start with the level editor guide.

Does Chess Maze work on phones?

Yes. It is a browser game on desktop and mobile. Tap to select a piece, tap a highlighted square to move. A modern mobile browser is enough; you do not need an app store build to try it.

Will there be ads in the game?

The game at play.chess-maze.com may show ads where they are allowed, including optional rewarded ads for extra lives. Display and in-game ads follow your consent choices on the game. This marketing site does not show ads; it may use analytics cookies if you accept them. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
